What I Make When I Make For Tea

Sunsmith and Dawn are holding a “Crafting Teaware: a Sip of Culture and History” workshop, which will be conducted in a unit format. During the workshop, different metalworking skills will be taught to help you finishing different types of tea utensils. Each unit is equipped with a tea party, appreciating related ancient and modern Chinese and foreign famous utensils while tasting The six famous Chinese teas. Participants can taste the joy of crafts accompanied by the fragrance of tea, and learn about the cultural journey of tea and tea utensils.

Prologue: Saucers and Pu'er

Tea is closely related to our lives. Tea represents one of our food culture and tea utensils were born for tea. The popularity and exquisiteness of utensils liberated tea from simple beverages, and sublimated into spiritual culture. In the prologue of “Crafting Teaware: a Sip of Culture and History”, the instructor will guide you through the tea party tasting Pu’er tea, learn about the ten utensils of the tea table, appreciate the ancient and modern famous trays, and make your own red copper and pure tin saucers.
